This translates:
"We thank you for the documentation you sent us. Our request for payment has been closed and the procedure has been blocked as we wait for the Prefetto's decision about your complaint."
I still want to discover who Maurizio Francescangeli is, and how it happened that he, stationed in Rome, ticketed a car that was 900 km away from Rome.

Hi, I live in France and this makes me think of something : itmight be a scam by rogue cops and rental agencies, but more likely someone in Rome has fake plates on their car (to escape Autovelox and ZTL cameras) which happens to be the same as the one on your rental car. This happens also in France, people have been in serious trouble because their plates were duplicated by people who then committed repeated traffic violations. The problem has now been acknowledged by the French authorities, and it is much easier to contest the tickets than it used to be when you're a victim of this kind of "plate number theft".
